Jr Flames Program

The Flames Foundation, the Calgary Flames Alumni, and Hockey Calgary have partnered to offer the Jr. Flames Hockey Program. The 8-session game play program will be open to players who have graduated from a try hockey program (ex. First Shift) or at minimum have basic skating and hockey skill.  Players currently registered in any Hockey Calgary full time program are not eligible to register.  The first 2 ice times will be a mix of practice and game play. The final 6 ice times will be formal games with referees.

The Jr. Flames program is designed:

• For U7, U9, U11, and U13 players (2024-25 season)
  • U9 (2016-2019)
  • U11/U13 (2012-2015)
• To continue to develop basic hockey skills that allow them to have fun and experience success in a full-time program
• To start to learn the rules of the game
• To increase their initial involvement to help give players a more formal hockey experience

NOTE: Players currently enrolled in any Hockey Calgary full time hockey program are not eligible to register for this program. 

The Jr. Flames program will feature:

• Calgary Flames Alumni as Guest Coaches
• Custom Jerseys
• Commemorative Puck
• All participants will receive a $100 credit towards their registration in a full time Hockey Alberta program for the 2025-26 season

Program Details:

• Cost - $155 + GST
  • Participants who did not participate in the First Shift program during the 2024-25 season will incur an additional charge of $29.73 for insurance
• 8 ice sessions
  • First 2 sessions are a mix of practice and gameplay
  • 6 formal games with referees
    • U9 will play ½ ice in line with the Hockey Calgary U9 program
    • U11 and U13 will play full ice
• Dates:
  • Every Saturday from April 5th 2025 to May 24th 2025  
  • April 5,12,19 & 26 and May 3,10,17 & 24 
• Location:
  • Optimist / George Blundun Arenas
• Times:
  • Individual ice times will vary from week to week but will start between 8:00AM-3:30PM

Coaches:

• Parent will have the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer assistant coach!

Registration will open Tuesday, February 18th at 12:00PM.
