CROWFOOT PEEWEE AA- 2019-20 - TOP 10

On December 18, 2019 at 445 pm @ Crowchild Twin Arenas Crowfoot Coyotes PeeWee AA team hosted a charity game for the and invited the NWW PeeWee AA team to play us. All funds raised going to Brown Bagging 4 Calgary Kids (BB4CK)! BB4CK feeds 4700 kids daily. The entry price was set at  $2 which is equal to the cost of a lunch they provide (as well as taking food box donations for the Veteran's Food Bank).

At the game the community coordinator for BB4CK (Karin Henderson) and  radio personality Mookie from 95.9 CHFM we delighted to preform the opening ceremonies.

Our Crowfoot Coyotes PeeWee AA team has been volunteering within the community to give back - brought gingerbread houses to make with the residents at Atria Retirement Home in Arbour Lake, Participated in running a class at the Boys & Girls Club in Bowness for their Jr leadership Class, bought and organized over 150 items for The Birthday Project, and led a development / skills practice for a Novice 2  crowfoot team. Although they are doing this as part of the Good Deeds Cup for Hockey Canada, they are already committed to volunteering again in the New Year with the organizations we have been at so far! They have truly enjoyed and learned from it!

With all the negative talk of hockey in recent times, we wanted to share and highlight the great things our hockey communities does!

I trust you will share my sentiment that there are only winners in the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.  The 301 entries received from across Canada means 301 communities benefited from Chevrolet’s Good Deeds Cup and the value of giving back.

First a shout out to Chevrolet for providing the “vehicle” to have our Pee Wee Nation bring coast to coast awareness of the ongoing and positive impact The Nathan O’Brien Children’s Foundation and the Calgary Food Bank have in our community.

Springbank PeeWee AA should be proud of all the ambassadors that represented The Nathan O’Brien Children’s Foundation in support of the Calgary Food Bank.  Our Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup entry exceeded expectations in every regard.

Factoid:

All 12 Springbank PeeWee divisions, from House League through AA, participated in this year’s Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup in either Springbank’s 40 Feet of Food Good Deed or supporting Hockey Alberta Good Deed initiatives.  In short, “Well done Pee Wee Nation!”  I don’t believe any other Canadian Minor Hockey Association can state 100% of their association’s Pee Wee division has participated in the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.

Without the contributions of the following folks we could not have succeeded in such spectacular fashion.  If you encounter them, please take an opportunity to congratulate them on the Good Great Deed and recognize them for their unwavering commitment and contribution to our Top 10 (3%) qualifying Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup entry.  Their dedication is extraordinary.

Jennifer, Rod, Luke, and Maximus O’Brien on behalf of Nathan O’Brien and the Children’s Foundation bearing his name
Dan Ouellette on behalf of the Calgary Food Bank and the thousands of Food Bank users
John Rop and his entire staff at our home hockey arena Springbank Park for All Seasons, and
Kevin Heise, Springbank’s Pee Wee AA Head Coach and 2019 Pee Wee Coordinator

There are many more important contributors to the Springbank Pee Wee Nation’s 2019 Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup entry than are listed here.  A comprehensive thank you will follow acknowledging all the contributors that chipped in to complete our Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup entry; however, in the interim I wish to extend my most sincere thanks for everyone’s efforts and support.

Your time, talent and treasure has been invaluable to the Calgary Food Bank and The Nathan O’Brien’s Children’s Foundation while honouring Nathan’s spirit ensuring it remains vibrant and active at Springbank and in our community.  As a result of the Good Deed, an inquiry has been made to explore the possibility of making the 40 Feet of Food an annual event in addition to exploring an annual Springbank minor hockey award bearing Nathan’s name.
