Calgary Saints Hockey Association Set to Launch Inaugural Season
Calgary, Alta – The Calgary Saints Hockey Association, a merger of the Properties Sports Association (PSA) hockey program and the Northmemorial Amateur Sports Association (NASA) hockey program, will officially commence activity for the 2012 / 2013 minor hockey season.
“PSA Hockey and NASA Hockey have great histories of tradition and have provided Northeast Calgary families with the ability to have their children play the greatest game in the world. The Saints Hockey Association will combine the strengths of these two great associations, with strong core values and a great sense of pride, to continue providing the families within our community access to hockey and all the wonderful values, relationships and friendships associated in playing team sports,” said John Belanger, NASA Hockey President.
The Hockey Calgary boundary review and the changes in demographics and diminishing registration trends over the past several years have all provided reason for the two long serving youth based organizations to join forces into one association. The Calgary Saints Hockey Association will see over 35 hockey clubs ranging from kids 5 to 21 years.
“This is a great fresh start for all of our players that have represented us while playing under our current banner, the 2012-2013 season will be something special for all of us,” said Kevin Tyson, PSA Hockey Director.
The new association will be headquartered out of the Don Hartman North East Sportsplex (NESS) with games and practices taking place at NESS and the East Calgary Twin Arena located in Erin Woods.
