Calgary will host the first Investors Group Minor Midget AAA Hockey Alberta Provincials
Calgary, AB – Hockey Alberta and the Calgary Royals Gold hosting committee are thrilled to announce the 2012 Investors Group Minor Midget AAA Hockey Alberta Provincials in Calgary. This is the first for this new Provincial tournament format scheduled to begin March 21, 2012 at the Max Bell Centre Arenas.
The top six teams from the AMMHL North and South of the province of Alberta will be competing for the distinction of Provincial champions for the 2011–2012 season. Hockey fans will see top calibre hockey, featuring tomorrow’s future hockey stars. Approximately 114 young athletes’ age 15 to 16 from across Alberta will demonstrate their talents and sportsmanship as they compete in a series of games over a five-day period.
“The Calgary Royals Gold volunteering committee will do an excellent job in hosting the 2012 Provincials,” said Rob Virgil, President, Hockey Alberta. “We know they will create an exciting and memorable tournament for everyone attending.”
The Opening Ceremony for the Investors Group Minor Midget AAA Hockey Alberta Provincials will be held on March 21 from 8 pm to 8:30 pm at the Max Bell Centre main arena. Calgary Flames legend Lanny McDonald will officially open the tournament.
The series of games will be held at the Max Bell Centre with the final Champion game being played at Max Bell main arena on Sunday, March 25th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
“This is the first time that the Calgary Royals have hosted the Alberta provincial finals,” said Gary Soroka, Chair of the hosting committee. “We are excited to participate and look forward to a great hockey tournament that will showcase this province’s best hockey talents.”
