On January 24, 2016 the Feradis and CCBCF held Skate the Lake, a big community event that drew over 400 people to McKenzie Lake, including all of Jordan’s former teammates, plus members of the Calgary Hitmen along with head coach Mark French.
With over $30,000 raised, the event was tremendously successful.
Hockey Calgary is looking forward to the first annual “Skate the Lake” event – coming January 24, 2016.
This event is inspired by Jordan Feradi, a courageous and determined young man whose life was taken at age eight, after being diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, an inoperable malignant tumor located in the brainstem.

Jordan was an avid skater and hockey player, so this event is a fitting tribute to him and his favorite past time. The Skate the Lake event will be attended by many of Jordan’s family and friends, including a special group who make up the CCBCF Youth Council. These young supporters play an important role in organizing events like this with the goal to create awareness and raise funds to support medical researchers in their quest to find a cure for children’s brain cancer.
All registrants are invited to skate on a 2.5 km path around McKenzie Lake as many times as they feel comfortable with.
Come skate with us or donate as a virtual skater. More information at http://ccbcf.org
