Canadian Tire recently announced that they will be hosting the first ever NHL Junior Skills competition in Canada. More than 8,000 kids will be competing in a series of skills tests fashioned after the NHL All-Star Skills Competitions. This event is happening on Sunday, Oct. 16 and it's FREE!!
Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills: Participants
Canadian Tire is looking for 300 more children in Novice, Pee Wee, and Atom to participate in their first ever NHL Junior Skills Competition. Enter your hockey player for a chance to show their stuff in a Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills qualifying event. Top qualifiers in each division will then compete in the Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills Championships during the 2012 All-Star weekend in Ottawa. When and where:
Date: Sunday, October 16 2011 - Don Hartman NE Sportsplex - 5206 68 St NE, Calgary
Overview:
A typical day volunteering will require 10 hours, starting at 7:00 a.m. until approximately 5:00 p.m. All volunteers will be provided with event apparel, a lunch as well as snacks and beverages.
Positions available:
Welcome Ambassadors (8 positions available)
o Support staff for all off-ice activities during the event.
o Greet families upon arrival at the facility and direct them to registration.
o Register players, obtaining all waivers and providing direction to dressing rooms.
o Assist in the assembly and distribution of Participant Packages at the conclusion of the day.
Player Ambassadors (6 positions available)
o Set-up and change over dressing rooms prior to each groups use.
o Escort players to and from the ice.
o Collect player jerseys once ice session is complete.
Ice Ambassadors (20 positions available)
o Assist in the operation of the On-Ice Skill stations.
o Assist in moving and organizing players in their designated areas.
o Collect pucks and on-ice equipment. Attributes/Needs:
o Hockey knowledge and playing ability required.
o Ability to skate with confidence.
o Ice Ambassadors will be required to bring their own skates, gloves, helmet and stick.
o Ability to be mobile on ice for long periods of time (3 to 4 hours) between breaks.
o Hockey Canada Coaching Certification an asset.
