What is the Chevy Safe and Fun Jamboree?
In partnership with Hockey Canada, the Chevrolet Safe & Fun Hockey program was developed for parents, minor league players and coaches to be much more than a "how to" course on the fundamentals of hockey. It's also a philosophy that's designed to help today's hockey enthusiasts develop a positive attitude towards healthy competition, co-operative teamwork, fair play and grace under pressure.
The best way to develop solid hockey skills is clear instruction, team play and practice, practice, practice. And that goes for children AND coaches. That’s exactly what Chevrolet Safe & Fun Hockey is all about. We hold local hockey Jamborees where you can continue to develop the skills you need.
Players
The Chevrolet Safe & Fun Jamborees are designed for all players in Initiation and Novice, aimed more so at ages 5-6 years. Each player will participate in a 55 minute on ice session focused on fun & games. While at least one of the players’ parents attends the parents’ seminar. Each participant will receive a jersey, participation certificate and bag tag.
Parents
Chevrolet Safe & Fun Hockey provides parents with the opportunity to learn about the development process of minor hockey while experiencing the Chevrolet Safe & Fun philosophy first-hand.
And perhaps more importantly, by participating in Chevrolet Safe & Fun Hockey your kids will have fun. And, if they're having fun, they'll want to keep playing and learning about hockey skills in addition to the fundamentals of hockey - responsibility, respect, leadership, goal-setting and the importance of a positive attitude. These are values that they'll draw upon forever.
As a parent of a child in hockey, there's a lot you can do to ensure that your child is getting the most out of hockey. For starters, a Chevrolet Safe & Fun Parent's Manual from Hockey Canada website. Or even better, take part in a Chevrolet Safe & Fun Parent's Seminar.
Coaches
As a coach, the influence you exert over your players goes far beyond wins and losses. That's why Chevrolet Safe & Fun Hockey is designed to help you create an environment of fun and learning. So while your players are developing their hockey skills, they're also learning the fundamental values of respect and responsibility... in hockey and in life.
Coaches are an important part of the on-ice experience for players as they conduct the curriculum of this program and reinforce the core program values of Respect & Responsibility.
